STEFFIE CHRISTIAENS

After cultivating invaluable experience in the ateliers of Balenciaga and Maison Martin Margiela; Netherlands-born Steffie Charistiaens draws on her knowledge of fabric design, and three-dimensional construction & printing to produce clothing both ideological and abstract, mythological and scientific. Steffie’s experimentation with the effects of the elements upon traditional fabrics inspires her liberated, provocative designs. Her organic shapes flow over the body like waves, intuitive of the human form beneath. Maintaining an artisanal approach to more experimental garments, her collections deliver a balance between a structure rooted in futurist spatial forms and a fluidity of relaxed elegance.
