GOLEM

A graduate of the Bunka Fashion University in Tokyo, Japanese born Shinsaku Maehama resuscitates forlorn European fabrics and decayed objects of craftsmanship at his Atelier in Paris. Every creation under his Golem brand is unique, and handmade. In Jewish folklore, Golem describes the raw materials used to create man. Maehama s work is a testament to such historical times, supporting, yet amending the old adage, to read: what is really old, is new again . His fabrics are handsewn from faded materials collected from flea markets and antique shops around Paris. For spring, Maehama has sourced out and reincarnated decayed cottons and frayed laces in dusty off-whites, browns, and blacks.
