CECCHI DE' ROSSI

An alumnist of agricultural college, and born of a family with a long tradition in leather tanning, Tommaso Cecchi de Rossi s line of bags and accessories are underpinned by a common theme, recycling. After spending years studying antiquated and exotic procedures and treatments, de Rossi has conceived a special dying process for fabrics and leather using wine pigments. The dye was developed by adding the pigments of different wines to natural plant extracts such as curcuma and spinach. The resulting colours are dictated by each individual plant s reaction to the alcoholic content, and acidity levels of the wine used. This proprietary procedure, combined with his scrutinous selection of materials such as horsehair and deerskin, results in creations that are both innovative, and particularly unique to other de facto offerings.
